Description of Contents

This collection contains Dr. Appleton's manuscripts, notes, and correspondence regarding articles she published based on her researches while in Canada, China, and Hawai'i. Included in the collection are the articles she published on human growth, diet, and deficiency diseases in journals such as the American Journal of Public Health, Journal of Biological Chemistry, American Journal of Diseases of Children, and American Journal of Physical Anthropology. She also published a collection of letters she wrote to her mother while working in China entitled, A Doctor's Letters from China Fifty Years Ago, which chronicles her experiences there for the period of 1921 through 1924. The collection includes three (3) copies of this book in fine condition, along with workbooks, health and scholarship forms, pamphlets, newspaper clippings, and an unpublished work of fiction, reports, and a booklet titled, "Hygiene and Sanitation for China," written by Appleton.
