Scope and Contents

The League of Women Voters series includes correspondence, newspaper clippings, notes, and records. This is the largest series as Saunders was heavily involved in the organization and held many leadership and committee roles. One of the main projects was an education project that included a survey and a field study. The League of Women Voters also sponsored and ran a conference called “Action for Education: A New Era in Hawaii,” which Saunders was heavily involved in organizing and collected a lot of material for the conference. It also includes topics called “Schools of Choice” and “Schools within Schools,” which dealt with choosing a charter school over public schools. There is also a lot of materials for the Board of Education which consists of speeches, minutes from board meetings, and correspondence.
