Container Summary
[Kalaheo, Kauai] He’s discouraged and very upset after receiving letter from Nelle that she got married May 17. Her “love I had kept sacred (though some people won’t think it sacred). And God (if there is any such thing) witnessed my marriage to her under the cosmic urge and I felt secure.” Couldn’t paint for a couple of weeks, but now is painting as hard as ever. His mother wants him to marry a Japanese girl here and go to N.Y. for a year; his father is on his side. Has finished about eleven oils and about the same number of watercolors; no prints yet. Finds Kalaheo “dead” and finds little amusement there. Doesn’t talk much because there are few people he can talk with. Had another car mishap; his girlfriend was driving and hit the side of a bridge – only slight dent.
