Container Summary

[no envelope] Hasn’t heard from Blake lately. Weather is warmer and he can’t wait to sketch out of doors. He’s been working solely on nudes, with a little more confidence and joy. He’s been seeing his friend Al Heckman and his wife who are in Paris for two weeks. Heckman was once Doi’s teacher. After they leave Doi says he’ll be almost friendless except for Dr. Nakamura and a “little French mignonne who, to my surprise, has given me an honest love…” Surprise to Doi since “I have always considered the women of Paris as gold-diggers and thiefs.” Will be sending Blake some of his prints and drawings which he should sell for Doi; he’s to choose a couple of drawings for himself. Discusses the drawings and possible prices ($5-20).
