Container Summary
[postmark illegible] Thanks Blake for getting Doi’s works shown at Gump’s. and for many other kindnesses. Hopes Blake won’t pay much attention to his last letter and he feels so foolish now. He wasn’t painting much during the last month but now is quite prolific and finds satisfaction in the work. In Paris met Mrs. Halpert [?] who is manager of Downtown Gallery in N.Y. and offered assessments of his work. He plans to leave Paris on Oct. 1 because of financial difficulties. His father has been advised by a doctor to retire; his brother will quit school to work at the store. Mentions that David Earl owes him $50 but has disappeared. Says his life has changed since coming to Paris, he has stopped dreaming, has faced the realities of life, has become more sophisticated, thus his paintings lack imagination.
