Staff files
Scope and Contents
This is the largest group of files in the Congress series. It consists of the files of Abercrombie’s legislative assistants (responsible for drafting legislation, monitoring action, and working with constituents and lobbyists in a given policy area) and other staff. As such, staff membersʻ files generally correspond to the issue areas and/or committees that they were assigned to. Files often contain notes, printouts of presentations, and correspondence. Many of the files in this series relate to military and military construction, though subjects like sugar, Japanese plutonium shipping, and the Akaka Bill are also documented here. Communications Director Mike Slackman’s files contain some material relating to Abercrombie’s campaigns.
Below is a list of the staff whose files are present in this subseries, along with their roles in the Abercrombie’s DC and Honolulu offices. Issue areas are listed when they were given in the Congressional Staff Directory. Because the directory did not consistently publish legislative assistants’ issue areas, however, this list should not be considered exhaustive.
