The compositions have been divided into five subseries: 1) “Liliu,” 2) “Impressions of Hawaii,” 3) “Poeme Ancien,” 4) “America,” and 5) Other Works.


Subseries 1, “Liliu,” contains manuscript scores showing multiple stages of the opera’s composition. Most papers show the vocal parts and a piano reduction, although orchestration for some sections is also present. The subseries contains scores, both manuscript and photocopy divided into files by their place in the opera (i.e., Prologue, Act 1, Act 2, Act 3, Epilogue), and an incomplete set of orchestral parts, likely for the six excerpts intended for performance at the 1980 Liliu Festival.


Subseries 2, “Impressions of Hawaii,” contains a full manuscript score, choral manuscripts and a choral conductor score, fragments and corrections, orchestral parts, and sample folders used by the choir when performing the piece with the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra.


Subseries 3, “Poeme Ancien,” contains orchestral scores.


Subseries 4, “America,” contains orchestral scores.


Subseries 5, “Other Works,” contains a wide variety of scores. When possible, the original file names have been retained; otherwise, the scores are organized in files by title. Also included is a bound score of “Manhattan Etude,” inscribed to June (presumably Starr, later Borisoff).
