Scope and Contents
Plantation Boy is Milton Murayama’s third installment in his tetralogy about the Oyama Family. This novel is told from the point of view of Toshio “Tosh” Oyama, Kiyo’s older brother, as he defies familial expectations and forges a life for himself as an architect. This sub-series contains early partial drafts and a complete manuscript. Also included is a list of soldiers from West Maui who were killed in action during World War II, who are referenced in the novel. Additionally, there are folders of book revisions, book proofs, and book reviews. Finally, included herein is a folder of correspondence with a man named Glenn Oshiro, a fan who connected with Milton Murayama over an ancestor who is referenced in Plantation Boy.

Arrangement
This sub-series is arranged chronologically according to the order in which drafts were written. Chronological order was determined by dates (when provided), completion status, the type of paper used (lined notebook vs. unlined) and by comparing and tracking edits between the drafts.
