Scope and Contents
The papers contain drafts, notes, news clippings on Michener, correspondence with Michener and with the publishers, Bowman and Twayne. The papers also contain research notes, correspondence with Louis Becke and Becke's family, and drafts of Day's biography of Becke.

Biography
A Grove Day taught English at the University of Hawaii from 1944 until 1969 when he received emeritus status. He died from a fall from his apartment in Arcadia on 26 March 1994.
During his tenure at the University, A. Grove Day collaborated with James Michener on Rascals in paradise and a French language version, Aventuriers du Pacifique. Day also wrote on a biography of Michener.
