Historical
The Image Foundation was founded in 1974 as a non-profit arts organization. The organization's mission, as stated in their brochure, was "to encourage the development and increase the excellence of photographic work in Hawaii through exhibitions, workshops, lectures, demonstrations, discussions, and retreats." The annual 'Image'exhibitions were an important activity of the group. These exhibitions each had a juror who was well-known in the field.
