Thomas G. Thrum collection
Scope and Contents
Included are biographical materials on Thrum, handwritten and typewritten drafts of books and articles, and unpublished research materials. The bulk of the material has to do with Hawaiian legends, but items on life in Hawaiʻi during Thrum's area are also present. Hawaiian language items are represented, along with Thrum's translations, offering the researcher an opportunity to study Thrum's translation style.
The most significant work in the collection is the presence of an unpublished manuscript compiled by Thrum: "Ancient Hawaiian Mythology," represented by two draft versions and a final typescript.
