Hawaiian Music Foundation records
Scope and Contents
The records cover the period from 1971 to 1981 and consist of the Foundation's correspondence, minutes of meetings, reports, and financial records, as well as clippings, photographs, pictures, slides, brochures and flyers, sheet music, posters. They also include a manuscript of the Foundation's 1979 publication, Hawaiian music and musicians, and two large scrapbooks of clippings that cover from 1973 to 1974.

Biographical / Historical
The Hawaiian Music Foundation was founded in 1971 to perpetuate, promote and preserve traditional musical arts of Hawaii. By the early 1980s, the Foundation was no longer an active organization.

The records were donated as a gift to the Library by George S. Kanahele, former President of the Hawaiian Music Foundation, in 1988.
