Overview
Shunzo Sakamaki (1906-1973) served as Dean of History for the University of Hawaii at Manoa during summer sessions. He was known for his work advocating for Nisei rights and their loyalty to America, as well as his contribution as the father of Ryukyuan studies at UH Manoa. From 1940-1941 he served on the Oahu Citizens Committee of Home Defense where he and his colleagues worked on the Japanese Expatriation Campaign, which advocated the idea of a single citizenship and simplified...
