Student Scrapbooks, 1946

 Sub-Subseries
Identifier: MANUSCRIPT M00064 Series 3 Sub-Series 29 Other Level 17

Scope and Content Note

This sub-subseries contains three scrapbooks prepared by students on two different subjects. The first, written by Yaiko Kashiyama, contains clippings related to the debate over statehood for Hawaii. Sources for the clippings are not noted, but a report is included at the back of the scrapbook and dated 1946 December 3. The remaining two scrapbooks are both on the subject of the 1946 strike of Hawaii’s sugar workers and were created by David Harada and Haruko Minami. These scrapbooks were created by students of Gertrude Moir, wife of John Troup Moir (Lieutenant Colonel of the Maui Volunteer Defense Forces during the war) and later donated to the HWRD.
