The collection includes 106 prints consisting of 92 different images (12 have two copies; one has three copies) as well as related correspondence between Varez and John P. Charlot.
The majority of the prints depict Hawaiian mythology and traditions in a distinctive style that is widely recognized. Most of the prints in this collection have Hawaiian titles and are monochrome reddish-brown on beige paper; a few are in other earth tones.
