Scope and Contents Approximately half of the collection consists of material relating to Allen’s time as a student at the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Hawai‘i. The bulk of this material is dated 1920-1924, although there are some alumni newsletters and directories from later dates. This collection consists of 22 spiral-bound notebooks, which contain comments, suggestions, questions, and even poetry from a variety of UHM library patrons. Replies from UHM reference librarians are included. Three notebooks are from Hamilton Library while the remaining 19 are from Sinclair Library. Notebooks range in date from June 1970 to May 1984 with the bulk of materials from 1975 to 1979.

Overview

The Harold and Maude Lyon Papers consist of the personal correspondence of Harold L. and Maude Lyon dating from 1902-1953, together with stereo photographs and transparencies from 1953-1955 of Hawaiian subjects. Harold Lyon was a prominent botanist in Hawaii and the Lyon Arboretum in Honolulu Hawaii is named for him. The collection has historical, evidential and informational value.

Files created by Dr. Tinker in his professional career as director of Waikiki Aquarium. The comtents of this vollection include: text excerpts from Dr. Tinker's book, Fishes of Hawaii, pictures and hand-drawn illustrations of these fish organized by family, manuscripts of papers detailing the history of the aquarium, magazines and newspaper clippings related to the aquarium or Dr. Tinker, and various paraphernalia from the aquarium (such as signage for displays).

Collection The majority of the collection is comprised of typed papers. These papers include contractual articles, salary adjustments, documents relation to negotiations and bargaining.
